When first announced, the Tesla Semi was said to have amazing features: for starters, a range of over 500 miles (800 km) under highway conditions; without a load it will accelerate from 0 to 60 miles in 5 seconds and with a load of 80,219 lbs (36,287 kg) it will do it in 20 seconds. This is more than twice as fast as a diesel truck. It can maintain a speed of 65 mph (105 km/h) going up a 5% climb fully loaded, whereas a diesel truck can only maintain 45 mph (72 km/h) under the same conditions.

We have news that there is going to be a new auto park feature coming for the Tesla Model Y and Model 3. This will allow one to easily park, especially during periods of dense traffic. However, there are some very profound implications of a Tesla being able to auto park that I'll mention as well.

The adoption of the electric cars by western (and oriental...) society has become popular as more prominent models arrive. But the truth is that car culture is not the same in all countries or regions. In fact, there are great differences between the preferences that may exist, for example, in America, China and Europe. Aspects to be considered at a social level or, simply derived from the physical characteristics of cities, end up being fundamental to understand the dynamics of the automobile market.

Unlike gasoline cars, Tesla cars require no traditional oil changes, fuel filters, spark plug replacements or emission checks. As electric cars, even brake pad replacements are rare because regenerative braking (which I will explain further below) returns energy to the battery, significantly reducing wear on brakes.

At Gigafactory Berlin-Brandeburg opening last weekend, when asked about when solar roof would be available in Germany, Elon Musk replied “...hopefully next year”, which would roughly translate to 2022. That is certainly good news for future potential users-customers in Germany and Europe in general, as solar panels could be one of the best energy decisions that one can make.

The restricted energy content of batteries is one of the major drawbacks limiting the successful implementation of EV technology nowadays, for every single automaker around the world. Considering the specific energy of gasoline is 9.2kWh/kg, corresponding to more than 3kWh/kg useful specific energy, limitations of the battery powered EV become apparent. That is why any news about Tesla´s 4680 battery production is significant, even more in the case of Giga Texas.

There were many very important things mentioned by Elon Musk last night at the Tesla Shareholder meeting in Austin, Texas. “You should be able to press mic button & say “bug report,” Elon Musk tweeted on Sunday, in response to users reporting issues with the FSD – Full Self Driving (Auto Pilot): in some cases it was about collision warnings on hilly roads (when there was actually no car in front of the driver) and in some other cases getting a ding for hard braking against the driver, when it was actually the AP (Auto Pilot) that hit the brakes.

Electric transportation is a win-win: it meets customer needs, provides environmental benefits, and supports the world’s energy security. Around the world, by the year 2025 20% of all new cars sold globally will be electric, according to the latest forecast by the investment bank UBS. That will leap to 40% by 2030, and by 2040 virtually every new car sold globally will be electric, says UBS.

For decades, the few electric vehicles that were on the road were powered by lead-acid batteries. The latest models, with their lighter weight and longer range, use lithium-ion batteries, just like most laptops and cell phones. In either case, the batteries that power electric cars can be recycled. The idea of recycling used-up electric-car batteries makes sense because using recycled material in battery production is far cheaper and less environmentally damaging than mining new material.

Helping fight the awful effects of climate change, clearly caused by the extended use of fossil fuels over the last century and a half, is not so simple. It might sound like a huge exaggeration, but Tesla Megapacks can actually help any National, Regional, State or Municipal government around the world to produce, store and distribute clean and renewable energy in a reliable way: battery packs.
